How to Screenprint Your Own Labels: A Quick Guide for Easy, Custom Finishes

A little label can add a whole lot of personality—and professionalism—to your project. And while there are many beautiful labels out there, sometimes the perfect one (right color, size, vibe) just doesn’t exist. So… why not make your own?

With this method, you can screenprint custom labels using pre-cut Lossie paper stencils. No weeding. No vinyl. No extra tools. Just your screen, your fabric, and a design that fits your project.

Label Types

These templates come with two styles:

Fold-in Labels (for seams): These have mirrored text so that once folded, it reads correctly.

Sew-on Labels (flat): Designed to be stitched directly onto your projects.

Each sheet includes markers (small triangles) to help guide your cut lines. After heat-fixing the ink, you can draw connecting lines between the triangles with a trick marker for clean, consistent cuts.

Materials to Use

You can print your labels on:

  • Cotton fabrics
  • Knitwear
  • Washable paper ("SnapPap"/sewing paper) for "sew-on" labels
  • Or any flat surface that holds textile ink

Pro tip: After fixing the print, iron fusible interfacing (like Vlieseline or Vliesofix) on the back before cutting—this helps add stability.

Fold-In Labels – Step-by-Step

  1. Fold the label right sides together across the horizontal axis.
  2. Sew the left and right sides with a 1 cm seam allowance (adjust if resizing).
  3. Turn the label inside out and press. It’s now ready to be sewn into a seam.

It’s a small detail—but one that really shows care and attention.

Easy Customization
Because you’re printing these yourself, it’s easy to change:

  • Color
  • Fabric
  • Ink type
  • Label layout

You can print the full stencil sheet or block off areas to only print one label at a time.
